Thanks to a South African Asshat, We Ended an Era and Sold Our Tesla

Yesterday I drove into a dangerous country that mane me nervous to even enter. I've seen and read about the corrupt Gestapo that has imprisoned their own own citizens, Canadian Actresses, French reporters etc. just for criticizing the authoritarian Big Government regime in charge. I am of course, referring to the USA.
It was sad to see the Once-Great Nation I'd left behind a few months after the election - which was the . Homeless people everywhere. The tension among the citizenry was palpable - especially when the now openly racist and oppressive police were around. Everything from law enforcement, education, health care and even the artificial "food" were examples of For-Profit cannibalism of a nation's own people by a ruling oligarchy, were evident. It was a sad epiphany. But I had a purpose for being there.
I had the opportunity to rid dispose of a liability. A new symbol of austerity and oppression by the New Big Government, at the price of the people's well-being. The car I've enjoyed more than Corvettes and Ferrari's. I sold my Tesla to Carvana. Time to end a chapter of my life. That car was literally an Era. The Tesla Era.
I was SO lucky with that car! I bought it a little over three years ago (which given how quickly I get bored with cars and buy new ones, was a standing record!). I immediately had it tricked out with both a custom interior and exterior that were done so well (largely by my wife, Maria!) that people took pix and videos of it, all the time - like as late as last week! It was literally a One-Of-A-Kind and that car was HOT!
But thanks to the South African Asshole, that same car has become a symbol of an Oppressive Authoritarian Regime and has crashed in value. I was SO lucky! I got a quote from Carvana a month ago. I was offered twenty thousand dollars for a six year old Model 3 with almost 50,000 miles on it. I was tendered almost identical offers from a few car dealerships.

Then we vacillated on our decision. Should we keep it? I mean, no one was setting Teslas on fire in Mexico. They all still pointed at us and smiled. So I got an extension on the offer for a week. Then we saw the value of the cars crashing, thanks to Mussolini Musk. So I uploaded the documents to Carvana's site and moved forward with the sale. The documents didn't upload properly, so Carvana gave me another extension. This happened twice and our offer ended up being extended for a total of a month. During that time, I received emails and texts like the one here on the right, stating that the dealerships I had queried, were no longer interested in ANY Tesla's at any price! Uh oh.
My offer from Carvana had an expiration date of May 3rd. I crossed the border and completed the transaction on May 2nd. The guy driving the truck told me he'd picked up 4 cars that day and mine was the 2nd Tesla. He'd picked up TEN this week. The last Tesla Model 3 he'd picked up was bought for $15,000! That was a 25% drop in value, in less than a month! I did the paperwork, took an Uber to the border, and crossed over to my new country, where people are definitely more relaxed, more healthy and more happy.
Now? Time to buy a Chinese car! Time for New Chapter.
Life in Mexico is definitely better. The only sad part is watching the decline of the country I love. I hope they destroy this new evil regime and restore themselves to a better place in history. And I hope those who tried to overcome democracy and justify the cruelty, racism and oppression at any cost, get what they deserve. History will judge them even more harshly than I do.
In the meantime, the BYD King is AMAZING! It's like a Tesla Model 3 but more luxurious and with better tech - for $25,000 including tax! Whoa.
